Video tutorials

Switching on the machine and preparing the material
Activate the machine, insert the material, focus and set the starting point.
4:11 Minuten
Starting the machine
10:00
Activate the machine
Hold your membership card against the reader next to the computer.
20:15
Close the lid
Close the lid completely.
30:25
Wait for the reference run
Wait until the table and the laser head have reached their reference position.
Preparing the material
41:30
Raise the table
First raise the table, leaving enough distance to the laser head.
52:15
Insert the material
Place the material flat in the top left corner.
62:33
Hold down warped material
If necessary, use the weights from the weight box.
Focus and starting point
72:45
Position the laser head
Move the laser head over the material.
83:12
Attach the focus tool
Hang the focus tool with the thick side facing up.
93:25
Focus the table
Slowly raise the table until the focus tool drops off.
103:45
Set the starting point
Move the laser head to the desired starting position.

RUBY basics: preparing and starting a laser job
Import and edit a file in RUBY, set cutting and engraving colors, select the material, position the job and send it to the laser.
4:46 Minuten
Preparing the file
10:01
Log in to RUBY
Open RUBY and log in.
20:10
Import the file
Upload your file in the "Manage" section. Suitable formats: DXF, EPS, SVG or CDR. For engravings, JPEG and PNG also work.
30:32
Check and edit the design
Switch to the "Design" section. There you can modify elements or draw additional shapes.
40:45
Set the colors
Use red for cut lines and black for engravings. Area engravings must be filled.
51:36
Adjust the workspace
In Design mode, click "Fit to Design" so the workspace fits your design exactly.
61:46
Create the job
Check the result and then click "Create Job".
Material and settings
72:01
Select the material
Open the material selection and choose the right material and material thickness.
82:16
Plan a test cut
The saved settings are guideline values. So always do a test cut before the actual job.
92:30
Adjust power and speed
If necessary, adjust "Power" and "Speed" for engraving and cutting. If the material is not cut through, you can reduce the speed, for example.
102:51
Save your changes
Save the adjusted material settings.
Positioning and sending the job
112:59
Position the job
Drag the job to the cross shown by the laser pointer. The design will be lasered at this position.
123:21
Send to the laser
Click "Push to Laser".
133:30
Keep your own settings
Answer "Restore from database" with "No" so your adjusted material values are not overwritten.
Lasering and checking
143:54
Check and start the job
Make sure the correct job is ready. Then click "Start". The laser process begins after a short delay.
154:20
Stop and correct if necessary
If the cut or engraving is not right, stop the job and change the settings in the "Prepare" section.
Scoring lines instead of engraving
Save time by scoring thin lines: run them as a cut, but with the material-specific power and speed values of an engraving.
2:50 Minuten
Understanding the difference
10:01
Engraving vs. scoring
An engraving is rastered line by line. For single lines, this leads to unnecessarily long processing times.
20:17
Understanding the raster movement
When engraving, the laser head repeatedly moves from left to right to hit the lines within the area.
Setting up scoring
30:28
Give the lines their own color
Assign a separate color to the lines you want to score – green is used in the video.
40:35
Define the lines as a cut
Set the colored lines to "Cut" in RUBY. The laser then follows the path of the lines directly.
50:45
Use engraving values
For scoring, use the engraving values for "Power" and "Speed" that suit your material. The numbers shown in the video are only an example.
Comparing the results
61:02
Start the comparison job
Send the prepared job to the machine with "Push to Laser" and start it.
71:11
Watch the raster engraving
With normal engraving, the laser head repeatedly moves over the entire area. For single lines, this takes a lot of time.
82:14
Watch the scoring
When scoring, the laser follows the lines directly and achieves a comparable result much faster.
92:39
Key takeaway
To engrave lines only: run them as "Cut", but use the matching engraving values for "Power" and "Speed".

💡 Now you can go to the page Material settings for Speedy 400 (in German), select the right parameters for your material and do test cuts.
💡 All material settings are guideline values only. Always do a test cut and adjust the values if necessary.
